
Always wanted to try Trapeze? Here’s your chance! Take a class with Colleen! You’ll learn a warm-up for the body, and injury prevention exercises for the shoulders as well as skills in the air on the static trapeze. There will be three classes offered:
Intro to Trapeze
Sunday February 10th, 12pm-2pm
Have you wanted to try static trapeze and never had the chance? Trapeze newbies, this class is for you!
Prerequisite: Be in a healthy place with your shoulders; no previous aerial experience necessary.
Beginning Static Trapeze
Sunday February 10th, 5pm-7pm
Have you done just a bit of static trapeze or lyra (such as Intro to Trapeze last time) and want to refine and add to your skills? This class is for you!
Prerequisite: this workshop is for anyone who attended Intro to Trapeze last time, or have done just a bit of static trapeze or lyra.
Continuing Static Trapeze
Sunday February 10th, 7:30-9:30pm
This workshop focuses on building your balance, strength, flexibility, and static trapeze vocabulary. Class includes a quick warm-up, as well as floor exercises followed by technique, aerial conditioning and skills on the static trapeze. We’ll spend the bulk of the workshop building your trapeze vocabulary as well as honing your technique in the skills you already have in a supportive, non-competitive environment.
Prerequisite: previous, multiple experiences on trapeze or lyra within the past year.

Colleen McKeown is a solo, duo and ensemble circus performer and instructor who specializes in Duo Trapeze and Partner Acrobalance, as well as performs burlesque nationally. Always active, she grew up playing team sports, cycling and horseback riding. Her circus addiction began in 2003 with Wise Fool New Mexico in Santa Fe and traveled on to 2 years of professional circus training at the New England Center for Circus Arts in Brattleboro, VT. In addition to performing and teaching, she has directed Wise Fool New Mexico’s annual women’s circus program, BUST. Colleen has been a licensed massage therapist since 1997. She specializes in Thai and table massage and most recently finished Yoga Teacher Training. She finds both of those practices very valuable in informing her circus skills and coaching. Colleen has also produced the wildly popular, Femme-O-Lition Derby (an annual show which features queer femmes) in Albuquerque and Santa Fe, NM and FUSE, a circus, burlesque and drag show in Northampton, MA. Colleen has a particular passion for creating partner work, whether it be on the ground or in the air.
